Putting Curtains in the Man-Cave

Right out of the gate I [K: "We," dear ...] have to say that I we don't think we can add a great deal to the current audiophile string of equipment reviews.  If you want a list of gear and reviews of gear, there are a lot of websites you can go to and get satisfaction. I think I cried a little bit typing that. We suspect she'd like the sound better if she turned around ... We are going to do equipment and music reviews as part of this.  But in all truth, I think what's most interesting is the process of evaluation.  I also think the back and forth we inevitably go through if we decide something is good or bad is good, too.  And, did you know, we get into lengthy discussions about the sales people, the people running the demo, and so on - many times more than what was being shown?  The type of personality that decides to make a living in high end audio electronics is a bit of an odd duck, and they tend to be very interesting as a result. Ok, now it's my (Kathy) turn. I'm a mumbldy-mumble year old mother of two teenagers. In my first life, before kids, I was a software support person at a local university, then a research programmer at a local major employer. So, a geek/nerd/dork. I grew up the daughter of an audiophile-ish dad, and a music loving mom, so I was familiar with both good sound, and great "trickle-down" electronics when dad wanted an upgrade. (Thanks, Dad!)   I figured I should tell any people who we are: I am Brent, my wife is Kathy, and we are both audiophiles.  I am not sure exactly when I became one ... but I am pretty sure when Kathy became one. I take that back - I know exactly when I started down the path.  I wanted a "good" stereo system when I was living in California, but there is only so much you can do when most of your paycheck went to basics - and your house was small and cramped.  I know now that shouldn't have been a barrier, but back then it seemed insurmountable.
